WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior left fielder
Chris Reilly finished 2-for-4 including a double for RIT in the Tigers' final game of the Bison Classic, but Muhlenberg's strong start allowed them to take a 13-5 win, Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Muhlenberg scored six runs in the first inning from a fielder's choice, throwing error, hit by pitch play, pair of walks and sac fly. In the bottom of the inning, RIT got on the board after junior catcher Kyle Poorman's sac fly scored senior first baseman Ian Libby.
- In the second inning, graduate student right fielder Nic Stagnitta crossed the plate from an error after a single from sophomore shortstop Randy Dodig. Senior centerfielder Will Porter knocked in Dodig to cut Muhlenberg's lead in half at 6-3.
- Muhlenberg scored two runs in the third inning on a double and fielding error to increase its lead by five.
- Both teams played scoreless from the fourth inning through the eighth, before Muhlenberg added five runs in the top of the ninth with four runs coming from doubles and one from a walk.
- Sophomore pinch hitter John Bagley grounded out, but earned an RBI after junior pinch hitter Zach Mecca scored. Senior first baseman Ian Libby singled and knocked in first-year pinch hitter Christopher Colella for the Tigers' final run in the bottom of the ninth.
- Junior pitcher Peter Bossinas, who replaced first-year starter Christian Marchbanks (0-1) in the first inning, finished with three hits allowed, two runs (one earned), one walk and six strikeouts during the first three innings. John Arnold threw five innings and allowed two hits and no runs with seven strikeouts. Senior Liam Barry and first-year Jacob Statman finished the pitching in the ninth for the Tigers.
