WASHINGTON, D.C. – RIT senior first baseman
Ian Libby finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI, while sophomore shortstop
Randy Dodig went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI, to help RIT over Cazenovia, 12-0, in the first game of the Bison Classic, Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers took a 6-0 lead in the second inning. Senior designated hitter Chris Reilly reached first on an error, advanced to second on a passed ball, and got to third after a single by graduate student and right fielder Nic Stagnitta. First-year left fielder Sam Kulp grounded out scoring Reilly and advancing Stagnitta to second. Dodig singled to score Stagnitta and then senior centerfielder Will Porter doubled, scoring Dodig. Libby scored Porter after he stole third with a triple and then scored himself after a passed ball. Senior third baseman Patrick Blackall walked and scored after sophomore second baseman Nate Kistler tripled.
- RIT improved its lead to 10-0 in the third inning. Stagnitta singled and Kulp reached on an error and advanced Stagnitta to second. Dodig singled and scored Stagnitta and Kulp advanced to third. Porter scored Kulp on a sacrifice. Dodig advanced to second on a wild pitch and then scored after Libby tripled. Blackall singled and scored Libby.
- The Tigers got its final two runs in the fifth inning. Dodig singled and stole second. Libby tripled to score Dodig before Libby scored off a wild pitch.
- Graduate student Collin Reformat got the win from the hill, after allowing two hits with five strikeouts and four walks in five innings of work, while Alex Slotter picked up a save in the final four innings after allowing three hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
