Coe named to CHA All-Rookie Team

WINTHROP, MASS. - RIT goaltender Sarah Coe was named to the College Hockey America All-Rookie Team, Tuesday.

Coe finished the 2021-22 campaign with six 40-plus save performances and two 80-plus save series. The freshman goaltender owns five of the top 10 series saves marks in the CHA this year and ranks seventh nationally in saves with 800, which includes a conference-best 429 in CHA play.

In 18 of her 22 starts this season, Coe registered 30 saves or more that included a season-high 52 stops against CHA regular season champion Syracuse on Nov. 5. The freshman goaltender was at her best in the Tigers' final three games of the regular season, going 1-1-1 and stopping 116 of 120 shots for a .967 save percentage and 1.30 goals-against average that included 40 saves or more in back-to-back games.

Her two 80-plus save series came against Penn State (Feb. 18-19) last weekend and Mercyhurst (Nov. 19-20). Her performance last weekend earned her CHA Golatender of the Week and was the fifth time this season that she received a CHA weekly accolade.

Rounding out the CHA All-Rookie Team were forwards Vanessa Upson (Mercyhurst), Sarah Marchand (Syracuse) and Madison Primeau (Syracuse), along with defenders Karley Garcia (Penn State) and Sydney Pedersen (Mercyhurst).

RIT begins CHA Tournament play against Lindenwood on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. in a quarterfinal playoff matchup.
