UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – RIT freshman goaltender
Sarah Coe made 40 saves in a 2-0 loss at Penn State, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period, Penn State took a 1-0 lead with the only goal of the middle frame after Penn State forward Rachel Weiss walked out of from behind the net on the left side and unleashed a shot from the top of the left circle that found the top right corner of the RIT net.
- Penn State scored a breakaway goal with 1:12 left in the third period into an empty net after the Tigers pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker in an attempt to get the equalizer.
GAME NOTES
- RIT's unbeaten streak was snapped after three games.
- Coe recorded her sixth 40 or better save performance this season (Oct. 8, Nov. 5, Nov. 20, Jan. 21, Feb. 18) and first 40 or more save performance in back-to-back games.
- Coe's 83 saves against Penn State were her second-most in a weekend series only trailing 87 against Mercyhurst (Nov. 19-20).
- During the past three RIT games, Coe went 1-1-1, stopping 116 of 120 shots for a .967 save percentage and a 1.30 goals-against average.
- Senior forward Jordan Marchese led the team in shots on goal for the second time this weekend with a pair.
- RIT finished with 15 blocks on the day and were led by freshman defender Jessie Burks.
- The Tigers begin the College Hockey America Tournament against Lindenwood. RIT was 1-2-1 against the Lions during the season with each team scoring a combined six even-strength goals during the four games.

RIT begins the postseason against Lindenwood in the Conference Hockey America Tournament quarterfinal on Thursday, Feb. 24 in Syracuse.
