ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward
Emma Roland's game-winning goal and assist led the Tigers to a 3-1 conference win over visiting Lindenwood, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period, sophomore forward Lindsay Maloney gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead 6:44 into the second period. After taking a pass from Roland in her own end, Maloney went the length of the ice before snapping a shot to the top right corner of the net on the power play.
- Roland extended the RIT lead to 2-0 with 5:49 left in the middle frame after taking a pass from behind the net from freshman forward Megan McCormick and one-timing a shot just inside the low right post. McCormick kept the Lindenwood goaltender guessing after corralling a pass from the left point from sophomore forward Hana Solinger and moving it from one side of the net to the other behind the goaltender's back before feeding Roland in front.
- Sophomore forward Chloe McNeil gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead 7:21 into the third with an unassisted breakaway goal. McNeil stole the puck from a Lindenwood defender just outside the Lion blueline and sent a rocket to the top right corner.
- The Lions made it a 3-1 game with 8:39 to play after a shot from the right point was deflected on its way to the net through a maze of bodies.
