SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The RIT (10-10, 7-8 Liberty League) Women's Basketball team lost 61-40 at Union (10-12, 8-8 Liberty League) Saturday. Junior
Kaleesha Joseph led the Tigers with 14 points, while sophomore
Emma Waite finished with 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Joseph scored off an assist from senior Sarah Henretta late in the first quarter to give the Tigers a 12-11 lead.
- Union's Amber Raisner scored with three seconds to play in the opening quarter to give the Dutchwomen a 15-14 lead.
- Henretta cut the Union lead to 21-20 on her bucket with 4:46 to play in the half.
- Union closed out the first half on a 10-2 run to lead 31-22 at the break.
- Joseph led RIT with 12 points and five rebounds, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor in the first half.
- Union's Darby Leid gave the Dutchwomen a 36-24 lead on her bucket with 6:45 to play in the third quarter.
- Senior Alyssa Juergens capped of 6-0 Tigers spurt with her bucket late in the quarter that cut the Union lead to 36-30.
- Junior Meg Roy cut the Union lead to six points on her basket with 7:36 to play in the fourth quarter.
- Leid scored with 5:19 to play to extend the Union lead to 45-33, as the Dutchwomen outscored RIT 22-10 in the fourth quarter.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 16-of-52 from the floor, including 2-of-11 from beyond the arc.
- Juergens led the Tigers with eight rebounds, while Waite had three assists.
- Raisner led Union with a game-high 23 points.
- RIT slips to sixth place in the Liberty League standings with three games remaining in the regular season.
