Women's Basketball loses 68-50 to Hamilton

BEREA, OH – RIT junior guard Emma Waite scored 21 points in the Tigers 68-50 loss to Hamilton in the opening game of the Baldwin Wallace Invitational, Thursday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Waite scored three straight points, including a jumper early in the second quarter to cut the Hamilton lead to seven points.
  • Hamilton's Maria Rengel scored down low to give the Continentals an 18-point lead late in the first half.
  • First-year guard Abigail Smith scored with 17 seconds to play, and Waite made a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to cut the Hamilton lead to 36-24 at halftime.
  • Hamilton extended its lead to 16 points on an Emma Sehring layup a minute into the third quarter.
  • First-year guard Erin DiPaola cut the deficit to 13 points on her basket late in the quarter, while junior guard Mya Richardson scored with 5:29 to play in the fourth to make it a 12-point game.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 18-of-67 from the floor, including six three pointers.
  • Senior forward Meg Roy and first-year guard Ansley Orrell each tallied eight points.
  • Hamilton outrebounded the Tigers 55-30.
