Women's Soccer beats Johnson & Wales in first round of NCAA Tournament

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior forward Madison Corso scored a pair of goals to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 win over Johnson & Wales in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Saturday. It is the first NCAA Tournament win for the Tigers.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Corso scored in the 11th minute on a shot from 15-yards out off an assist from Sam Halligan. Corso took a touch inside the Johnson & Wales box and fired a shot past Wildcats keeper Carly McCrumb.
  • Johnson & Wales' Emily DeRoehn tied the score at 1-1 on her goal in the 19th, poking in a shot off a corner kick from Jordan Restivo.
  • Corso tallied her second of the game in the 20th minute, breaking in and scoring into the corner.
  • Senior goalie Darcie Jones made a diving save of a Johnson & Wales penalty kick in the 22nd minute.
  • Sophomore forward Emma Schock scored in the 75th minute off assists from sophomore forward Olivia Harris and first-year midfielder Jillian Antol.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Johnson & Wales outshot RIT, 11-8.
  • The Tigers took six corner kicks.
  • Jones made four saves for the Tigers.
