ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Six RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with Player of the Week recognition, announced Monday, October 24.
Sophomore diver
Kaylea Oliver earned her second straight Diver of the Week accolades, while senior swimmer
KhaVy Sangasy was named Swimmer of the Week. Sophomore right side
Liv Benard was named Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
On the men's side, senior swimmer
Brendan Kapp was named Swimmer of the Week, and sophomore diver
Gellert Kish earned Diver of the Week accolades. First-year forward
Gabriel Zaninetti earned Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week honors.
Benard averaged 5.86 kills/set while hitting .421 along with 2.29 digs/set in a pair of Liberty League matches last week. She notched a career-high 25 kills on .378 hitting to go along with 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season in Friday's 3-1 win over Union. Benard compiled 16 kills and only one attack error on 31 swings for a .484 attack percentage in Saturday's 3-0 sweep of Vassar.
Oliver swept the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions to help lead RIT to wins against St. Lawrence and Clarkson, Saturday. The sophomore diver won the 1-meter competition with a score of 236.10, and the 3-meter competition with a score of 251.45.
Sangasy won three individual events to help lead RIT to wins over St. Lawrence and Clarkson, Saturday. The senior swimmer won the 100 backstroke (1:02.16), the 100 freestyle (54.69) and the 200 IM (2:13.85). She also swam a leg in the anchor leg in the winning 200 medley relay.
Kapp won three individual events to help lead RIT to wins over St. Lawrence and Clarkson, Saturday. Kapp won the 100 breaststroke in a pool-record time of 58.28 and the 200 breaststroke with a pool-record time of 2:08.72. The senior swimmer was a winner in the 200 IM (2:02.10), and swam a leg in the winning 200 medley relay (1:35.15).
Kish won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions to help lead RIT to wins against St. Lawrence and Clarkson, Saturday. The sophomore diver won the 3-meter competition with a score of 311.65, and the 1-meter competition with a score of 327.45.
Zaninetti had an assist to help lead RIT to a 2-1 win at Bard, Saturday. The first-year forward assisted on
Jaden Winall Longdon's go-ahead goal in the 48th minute in Saturday's win.
