SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The RIT women's hockey team lost to host Syracuse in College Hockey America action, 3-0, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After no scoring in the opening period, Syracuse got a pair of late goals in the second period for a 2-0 lead. On the first goal, freshman goaltender Sarah Coe foiled a one-on-one chance by the Orange but the save carried her to the right post while the puck found its way to the middle of the crease for an oncoming attacker to poke into an empty net with 3:40 to go in the middle frame.
- Syracuse's second goal came on the power play after a shot from the right point deflected off a body in front and into the net with 87 seconds left in the second.
- Syracuse got its second power-play goal of the game after a snap shot from the left side of the ice at a difficult angle found the back of the net, 6:15 into the third for the game's final goal.
GAME NOTES
- RIT freshman goaltender Sarah Coe finished with 40 saves on 43 shots making 40 saves or more four times this season.
- The Tigers recorded a season-high 29 shots on net with sophomore forward Emma Roland leading the way with a career-high seven.
- Sophomore forward Lindsay Maloney won a team-best 10 faceoffs and registered a game-best five blocked shots.
