Women’s Hockey rallies late for 2-2 tie against Penn State

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior forward Abby Davies scored the tying goal with 15.9 seconds remaining for a 2-2 final against visiting Penn State in College Hockey America action, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Penn State opened the scoring after a pass near the left boards found an open Nittany Lion in the slot area for a 1-0 lead 4:46 into the game.
  • The Tigers tied the game at 1-1 on the power play after freshman forward Megan McCormick tapped the puck in from the right post after sophomore forward Emma Roland's shot from the crease was deflected to McCormick. The play started from the left point after Lindsay Maloney found junior forward Hana Solinger deep on the left post. Solinger found Roland cutting toward the goal before shooting.
  • Penn State scored the lone goal of the second period after a snap shot from just inside the blueline was tipped in the crease for a 2-1 Nittany Lion lead 3:29 into the period.
  • On the Tigers tying goal, Davies started the play behind the net with a pass to senior captain Jordan Marchese, who found sophomore forward Hana Solinger at the right point. Solinger's shot was defected to the ice to the far left post by Davies.
