ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Sophomore forward
Kevin Ryan scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in RIT's (3-6, 1-2 Liberty League) 78-74 loss to Union (6-4, 3-1 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Clark Gym Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT trailed by five in the first half, but outscored the Dutchmen 17-3 over the final 5:32 to lead 40-36 at halftime.
- RIT shot 53.8 percent in the first half. Ryan led the Tigers with 14 first-half points to go along with five rebounds.
- Ryan gave the Tigers a 44-39 lead early in the second half on his basket off an assist from junior guard Keegan Ocorr.
- Union responded with a 15-5 run taking a 54-49 lead on a three-pointer by Mike Caporale with 12:54 to play.
- Freshman guard Kris Laing converted two free throws with 1:36 to play in regulation to give RIT a 74-70 lead.
- Union's Chris Lovisolo converted an old-fashioned three-point play with :24 seconds to play to give Union a 75-74 lead.
- Conor Cepiel, Mike Manley and Temi George made key free throws in the closing seconds of regulation.
GAME NOTES
- RIT shot 27-of-57 from the floor, including 6-of-17 from beyond the arc.
- Ryan shot 7-of-11 from the floor and was 6-of-6 from the foul line.
- Laing scored 13 points off the bench for RIT, while freshman center Andrew Fox chipped in 10 points.
- Mike Manley led Union with 20 points.
