Women's Hockey Falls 8-1 at No. 6 Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. - RIT freshman Sarah Coe (Brooklin, ON) and junior Taylor Liotta (Mississauga, ON/Oakville Hornets) combined to register 52 saves tonight in an 8-1 loss at No. 6 Colgate on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT freshman forward Athena Vasdani (Oakville, ON) opened the scoring with 12:44 left in the first period with her first collegiate tally.
  • Colagate's Neena Brick scored a pair of goals for the Raiders in a 2:55 span to round out the first-period scoring. Brick's first was shorthanded with 9:08 left and the second came from a feed from Kaitlyn O'Donohoe with 6:13 on the clock.
  • Colagte made it a 4-1 game in the second with a pair of goals 2:22 apart. O'Donohoe got the Raiders' third goal at 17:08 and Kalty Kaltounkova converted a feed from Danielle Serdachny with 14:46 remaining.
  • Allyson Simpson extended the Raiders lead to four with a power-play goal with 5:25 left in the second.
  • Colgate's Delani MacKay scored 3:47 into the third period before late goals by Malia Schneider and Darcie Lappan closed the scoring.

GAME NOTES
  • Vasdani's goal was her first in a Tiger sweater.
  • The last time the Tigers surrendered 60 or more shots was against Syracuse (63) in a 2-2 tie on Feb. 8, 2020.
  • The last time RIT gave up eight goals was against Boston University in an 8-0 loss on Dec. 8, 2018.
