ERIE, PA – Despite a quick RIT 2-0 first-period start with goals from sophomores
Emma Roland (Williamsville, NY) and
Lindsay Maloney (Lakeville, MN), the Tigers fell 6-3 to Mercyhurst on Sunday in a non-conference game at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
The early pair of RIT goals came in the game's first 7:28 of play within a span of four minutes with senior
Taylor Sims (Deep River, ON/Ottawa Lady Senators) and sophomore
Chloe McNeil (Ottawa, ON) earning assists on the latter goal.
RIT got its final goal of the game late in the second period on the power play with freshman
Megan McCormick (Clarendon Hills, IL) converting freshman
Bailey Kehl's (Quincy, WA) feed to get the Tigers within a pair at 5-3. RIT went 1-for-8 on the power play, while the Lakers went 0-for-4.

Sarah Coe (Brooklin, ON) shut down the Laker offense in the third period and allowed a pair of second-period goals and finished with a team-high 15 saves, after splitting time with starting junior goalie
Taylor Liotta (Mississauga, ON/Oakville Hornets), who recorded 11 saves.
Mercyhurst outshot RIT, 32-22, with Roland registering a team-high five shots for the Tigers. RIT held the edge in faceoffs, 31-19, with Maloney leading the way with 13 wins. Defensively, Sims led all shot blockers with five of the team's 12.
The Tigers next take on Colgate in a home-and-home series next weekend starting in Hamilton on Friday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m.and ending at RIT on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m.
