Softball falls twice at RPI, 9-0 (5 inn.) and 6-1

TROY, N.Y. – The RIT softball team lost twice at RPI, Saturday, in a Liberty League doubleheader, falling 9-0 and 6-1.
 
GAME 1 – RPI 9, RIT 0 (5 Inn.)
  • RPI pitcher Alexis Cooke limited RIT to four hits and struck out four while only walking two to earn the complete-game victory.
  • The Engineers scored six runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth while holding the Tigers scoreless to earn the five-inning win. 
GAME 2 – RPI 6, RIT 1
  • RIT's Julia Vaillancourt (Braintree, MA/Braintree) finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk, but it was RPI holding the Tigers to a single run to earn the sweep.
  • Vaillancourt led off the sixth with a single to center and advanced to third on a hit by Natalie Barrera (Worcester, MA/Doherty Memorial) before Raquel Estrada (Middletown, NY/Middletown) brought her home with an RBI ground-out to third base.
  • RPI's Brooke Sroczinski limited the Tigers to five hits while striking out six to earn the complete game win.
