ITHACA, NY -- The RIT (3-5, 2-4 Liberty League) women's tennis team closed out its 2021 regular season in style with a 6-3 win at Ithaca College Saturday afternoon.
In doubles, the Tigers won 2-of-3 points. The team of
Kirsten Auble (Portland, OR/Sunset) and
Annie Steinbrink (Ambler, PA/Upper Dublin) were 8-1 winners over Sarah Sposito and Shannon Wolfe at third doubles, while the team of
Claire Casalnova (Mars, PA/Pine Richland) and
Abby Murray (Erie, PA/McDowell) picked up an 8-7 win over Rebecca Andrews and Zoe Davis at first doubles.
Casalnova went on to beat Andrews, 6-2, 7-6 at first singles. Auble was a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Sara Steinberg at third singles, while
Jackie Drozd (Richboro, PA/The Hun School) earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Caroline Herz at fourth singles. Senior
Julia Smolowitz (Hudson, MA/Hudson) earned a hard-fought 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 win over Audrey Johnson at sixth singles.
