ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (5-20, 2-17 Liberty League) softball team dropped a pair of games, 7-1 and 17-6, to visiting Skidmore College (6-6, 6-6 Liberty League) in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.
In game one, Skidmore scored four runs in the first, two in the fourth and tacked on a run in the fifth, while RIT scored its lone run in the home half of the fourth inning. Senior
Julia Vaillancourt (Braintree, MA/Braintree) drove in
Raquel Estrada (Middletown, NY/Middletown) with the bases loaded in the fourth.
Vaillancourt finished 1-for-3 in game one, while Estrada went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Senior
Melissa Gould (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) took the loss on the mound for RIT, allowing five earned runs on nine hits. She struck out five and walked two.
Kaitlyn Judd went 2-for-4 for Skidmore with two RBI and a run scored. Katie Anderson was 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Lindsey Raimondi got the win for Skidmore, allowing one run on six hits. She struck out five and walked three.
In game two, RIT scored a run in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth and one in the seventh. In the fourth, Estrada smacked a double, plating
Hannah Trumble (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) from second. The next batter,
Natalie Barrera (Worcester, MA/Doherty Memorial), singled up the middle, scoring Estrada to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead. Skidmore answered with seven runs in the top of the fifth and scored six in the top of the seventh to break the game open.

Freshman
Brooke Seifert (Cheektowaga, NY/Cleveland Hill) led the Tigers, going 4-for-5 in game two, scoring two runs. Estrada went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored,
Sophia Shufelt (Rochester, NY/Penfield) and
Brianna Bilich (Penryn, CA/Del Oro) each drove in a run for the Tigers.
Jennifer Vickery (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) took the loss on the mound for RIT, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits.
Katie Anderson led Skidmore, going 3-for-5 in game two with three RBI and scored two runs. Meghan Robertson got the win for Skidmore, allowing five runs on 10 hits. She struck out one and walked two batters.
RIT is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, May 8 at Rensselaer beginning at 1 p.m.
