SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The RIT softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Skidmore, Sunday, falling 10-5 and 3-0.
GAME 1: Skidmore 10, RIT 5
- Alexis Smith (Ronkonkoma, NY/Connetquot) finished 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI while Hannah Trumble (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the opener.
- Skidmore jumped out to a 5-0 first-inning lead, but the Tigers got two back in the third on a two-run double by Brianna Bilich (Penryn, CA/Del Oro).
- Skidmore built an 8-2 lead with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
- RIT made it a three-run game with a three-run sixth inning, including RBI singles by Trumble and Smith as well as a sacrifice fly by Samm Carroll (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge).
- The Thoroughbreds put the game out of reach with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
GAME 2: Skidmore 3, RIT 0
- Skidmore starter Meghan Robertson twirled a complete-game five-hitter, only allowing one walk.
- Five Tigers logged one hit, including Smith who finished 1-for-2 with a walk.
- RIT starter Melissa Gould (Harleysville, PA/Souderton Area) yielded a first-inning solo home run to Katie Anderson and was spotless until giving up a lead-off homerun to Hannah Davis during a two-run Skidmore sixth.

RIT closes the season with four games opposite RPI next weekend, starting with a road doubleheader on Saturday (May 8) scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch. The Tigers will the host the Engineers on Sunday (May 9) for a 1:00 p.m. twinbill.
