Baseball loses 17-12 at home to St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT (4-5) junior right fielder Ian Libby (Melrose, MA/Malden Catholic) finished 3-for-5, driving in two runs and scoring four while junior infielder Patrick Blackall (Hershey, PA/Hershey) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and ta RBI, but visiting St. John Fisher (12-2) out-scored the Tigers, 17-12, Wednesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Tigers started with four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but RIT responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Freshman infielder Randy Dodig (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) drove in two runs with a single to right center. Senior catcher drove in two more runs with his single up the middle.   
  • Fisher responded with five runs in the top of the second inning.
  • RIT tied the score at 5-5 on a sacrifice fly from senior Daniel Capra (North Salem, NY/North Salem), plating Brooks Vertoske (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads)
  • The Cardinals scored four runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and tacked on five runs in the eighth inning to break the game open.
  • The Tigers scored five runs in the ninth inning to make it a 17-12 final.
  • Tim Geissel picked up the win for St. John Fisher, while Peter Bossinas (Ossining, NY/Ossining) took the loss for the Tigers
