ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team lost a pair of games to visiting St. Lawrence, Monday, falling 4-0 and 5-2 (11 inn.) in Liberty League action.
GAME 1 – St. Lawrence 4, RIT 0
- Three St. Lawrence pitchers combined to hold RIT to one hit, while only walking three Tigers.
- Will Porter (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) notched RIT's lone hit with a single down the left field line in the sixth inning.
- Daniel Capra (North Salem, NY/North Salem) took the loss, allowing three runs and eight hits while striking out seven over six innings.
GAME 2 - St. Lawrence 5, RIT 2
- RIT brought a run across in the first on an RBI groundout by Luke McNamara (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) with the bases loaded.
- The Tigers made it a 2-0 game in the sixth. John Bagley (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) led off with a single to right and eventually came home from third on a misplayed ball by the Saints' pitcher on a bunt by Will Porter (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit).
- RIT starter Jon Opalweski cruised until St. Lawrence brought two across in the seventh. Jake Delaney led off with a single to centerfield before advancing to third on a throwing error by the RIT catcher after stealing second base. Delaney scored on an Opalewski throwing error off the bat of Michale Goretti before Goretti later came around on an RBI single up the middle by Nicholas Butler.
- The game was scoreless into the 11th until Goretti knocked a three-run homerun over the left field fence for the deciding runs.
