Women's lacrosse loses at Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY -- Senior Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) scored four goals, while sophomore Baylee West (Hummelstown, PA/Hershey) tallied twice, but the RIT (6-5, 2-5 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team lost 16-8 loss at Liberty League foe University of Rochester (3-5, 1-4 Liberty League) Friday afternoon.

Shots were 37-20 in favor of Rochester, and the Yellowjackets held a 26-21 ground ball advantage. The Tigers won 10-of-26 draw controls, went 2-of-6 on free position attempts and went 19-of-27 on clearing attempts.

Fallone finished with four goals and senior Skylar Burlee (Churchville, NY/Churhcville-Chili) tallied a goal and two assists. Baylee West (Hummelstown, PA/Hershey) scored two goals, Olivia Africa (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) handed out two assists and Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's) finished with a goal and an assist. Goodermote took the loss in net for the Tigers, making 12 saves.

Emily Voss and Emma Little led Rochester with three goals each. Carlie BenDavid picked up the win in net for the Yellowjackets, making six saves.

Rochester scored the first three goals of the game and led 8-2 at halftime. Fallone cut the Yellowjackets lead to 3-1 on her goal off an assist from Burlee, while West scored off an assist from Darrell at the 10:56 mark of the half that cut the Rochester lead to 5-2.

West and Fallone scored back-to-back goals early in the second half, cutting the lead to 4-2 on Fallone's second goal of the game. The Yellowjackets ran off four straight goals before Burlee tallied off a feed from Africa. Fallone scored twice in the closing minutes, while Darrell scored in the final seconds to make it a 16-8 final.

These same two teams are scheduled to meet again on Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. from RIT's Turf Field. RIT will honor its five seniors prior to the game.
