Fallone scores game-winner as women's lacrosse beats Rochester on Senior Day

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior attack Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) scored the game-winner with :02 seconds to play in regulation as the RIT (7-5, 3-5 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team came back to beat the University of Rochester (3-6, 1-5 Liberty League), 13-12 on Senior Day at RIT Saturday afternoon.

Fallone converted a free position attempt with :02 to play to secure the win for RIT. She finished with a game-high seven goals becoming the third player in program history to record 200 career goals.

Senior Olivia Africa (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) finished with a goal and two assists as she surpassed the 100 career points plateau. Skyar Burlee added three goals and four points, while Baylee West (Hummelstown, PA/Hershey) (2G) and McKenna Joint (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (1G, 1A) each recorded two points. Pauline Goodermote picked up the win in net for the Tigers, making 12 saves.

Kendra Jones led Rochester with five goals and six points, while Mary Panepento finished with four goals. Carlie Bendavid took the loss in net for the Yellowjackets, making eight saves.

RIT led by as many as two goals early in the first half, taking a 5-3 lead on Africa's goal. Rochester scored six straight goals, taking a 9-5 lead on a Jones goal. Fallone scored with 1:04 to play in the half to cut the Rochester lead to 9-6.

Burlee and West opened the second-half scoring for RIT, cutting the Yellowjackets lead to 9-8 on West's goal inside the first :46 seconds of the half.
 
Zoe Sullivan gave Rochester a 10-8 lead with her goal, and Fallone made it a one-goal deficit with her third goal of the game. After a Jones goal made the score 11-8, the Tigers scored two straight goals, tying the score at 11-11 on Fallone's fourth of the game with 14:06 to play in regulation.

Jones gave Rochester a 12-11 lead on her fifth goal of the game inside the final 15 minutes of regulation. Fallone scored off a nice assist from Africa with 11:31 to play that tied the score at 12-12, and her goal with 10:24 to play gave the Tigers a 13-12 lead.

Panepento tied the score on her free position goal with :35 seconds to play. With time running out, Rochester was whistled for a foul giving Fallone a free position chance. She calmly buried her shot with :02 to play to make it a 14-13 final.

Shots were 35-29 in favor of Rochester. The Tigers had 12 ground balls, went 3-for-4 on free position attempts and were 16-of-21 on clearing attempts.
