Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's lacrosse loses on the road at No. 11 Ithaca College

ITHACA, NY -- The RIT (3-2, 0-2 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team was beaten 21-9 at No. 11 Ithaca College (4-0, 2-0 Liberty League) in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.

Shots were 40-21 in favor of the Bombers. Ithaca held a slight 12-10 ground ball edge, while the Tigers won 12-of-31 draw controls. RIT went 2-for-2 on free-position attempts and cleared the ball on 14-of-20 chances.

Senior Skylar Burlee (Churchville, NY/Churhcville-Chili) led RIT with a career-high three goals. Seniors Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) and Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's) each tallied two goals for the Tigers, while junior McKenna Joint (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) finished with a goal and an assist. Fallone led RIT with five draw controls. Paulina Goodermote (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) took the loss in net for RIT, making 14 saves.

Jacqui Hallack led Ithaca with six goals and seven points. Alexa Ritchie tallied four goals, while Madison Boutureira finished with three goals and two assists. Mackenzie Schade picked up the win in net for the Bombers, making three saves.

RIT led the Bombers early in the first half, taking a 3-2 lead on Burlee's second goal of the game. She gave the Tigers an ealy 1-0 lead on her unassisted goal inside the first two minutes of te game.

Ithaca ran off four straight goals, taking a 6-3 lead on Boutureira's goal at the 18:02 mark. Darrell cut the Ithaca lead to 6-4 with her goal with 15:32 to play, while Fallone cut the Bombers lead to 7-5 with her goal with 12:17 remaining. After an Ithaca goal made the score 8-5, Burlee tallied her third goal of the half, cutting the Ithaca lead to 8-6 with 8:57 to play.

Ithaca closed the half on a four-goal run to lead 12-6 at halftime.The Bombers had runs of four and three goals, respectively in the second half to break the game open. Darrell, McKenna Joint (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) and Kayleigh Ground (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) each scored for the Tigers in the second half.

RIT is scheduled to return to action on Friday, April 2, at Liberty League foe Skidmore College at 4 p.m.
