Women’s Hockey drops to Syracuse, 7-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior goaltender Taylor Liotta made nine saves in relief and held the Orange scoreless during the final period, but it was Syracuse who took the contest, 7-0, in College Hockey America action Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Syracuse took a 1-0 lead after sophomore forward Rayla Clemons converted a penalty shot 7:06 into the period with a backhand move.
  • The Orange got its second goal for a 2-0 lead when junior forward Marielle McHale intercepted a clearing pass and let go a high snap shot from the edge of the right circle with 8:03 remaining in the first.
  • Syracuse added five goals in the second period for a 7-0 lead. The Orange went the length of the ice on its fourth goal with graduate defender Jessica DiGirolamo converting from left side after taking a feed from the right boards. Freshman forward Madison Primeau scored the Orange's fifth goal from deep in the zone to the left of the net after receiving a pass from the right point for a 5-0 lead with 3:10 left in the second.
  • Freshman forward Sarah Marchant and graduate student forward Victoria Klimek added power-play goals 62 seconds apart late in the second to cap the game's scoring. Both goals were the result of pin-point, three-way passing plays.
