TIFFIN, OHIO – Senior
Christopher Horton and freshman
Josh Harkless led RIT by winning their respective weight classes in a field of nearly 40 schools at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open, Sunday.
Horton captured the 141 lb. title in the White Division, 7-3, over Notre Dame's Matthew Kaufman. In the semifinals, Horton won an 8-7 decision over Elijah Hunter (Tiffin). Horton won his quarterfinal bout with a 58 second pin over Heidelberg's Kyle Fanson before opening with a 9-2 victory over De' Ante Evans.
Harkless took the 197 lb. bracket, 11-8, over Edinboro's Nick Lodato in the White Division, reaching the finals after a pin in the semifinals over Glenville State's Christian Ramsey at 1:16. Harkless won his quarterfinal bout, 3-2, over Ashland's Kaine Morris before opening his bracket with a 9-0 major decision over Tiffin's Dylan McCandless.
A trio of Tigers finished runner-up in the White Division. Freshman

James Ost at 165 lbs., and senior
Zach Stedeford at 174 lbs.
Sophomore
Michael Glynn III (149 lbs.) finished third, while senior
Ian Houck (165 lbs.) and junior
Ben Dougherty (174 lbs.) finished fourth in the White Division.
Senior
Kaidon Winters (157 lbs.) was fifth in the Gold Division, while junior
Colby Giroux (184 lbs.) was fifth in the White Division.
Three Tigers took sixth place in the White Division, sophomores
Logan Patterson (125 lbs.) and
Matthew Grant (141 lbs.), and freshman
Nate DeGroff (197 lbs.). In the Gold Division, junior
Austin Lamb (165 lbs.) finished eighth.
Wrestling next travels to Cortland for the New York State Collegiate Championships, Saturday, Nov. 20.
