Sarah Coe made 40 saves and senior forward captain
Jordan Marchese added a goal and assist in a 4-3 loss to UConn Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT forward Emma Roland gave the Tigers the lead on a breakaway goal 5:02 into the game.
- UConn tied the contest with a power-play tally 9:55 into the game to end the first period scoring.
- RIT forward Abby Davies opened the second-period scoring and restored the Tigers' lead at 2-1 after her backhand shot found the top left corner inside the left post.
- UConn's Viki Harkness scored the next two goals of the game to give the Huskies its first lead at 3-2, with the goals coming 2:52 apart. The first tied the game and came with 94 seconds left in the second, and her second tally came 1:18 into the third.
- The Huskies extended their lead to 4-2 just 4:42 into the third for the eventual game-winning marker.
- RIT's Marchese got the Tigers within one after intercepting a pass at her own blueline and scoring on a breakaway to get RIT within one at 4-3, with 11:33 left in the third.
GAME NOTES
- Roland's goal that gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead extended her team-leading total to four.
- Marchese registered her first points of the season with a goal and an assist.
- Sophomore defender Mia Tsilemos notched her first point of the season on RIT's second goal.
- Coe's 40 saves on the night were a season high.
