Women’s Hockey heads to St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. - The RIT women's hockey team travels to St. Lawrence in a non-conference game, Friday.

LAST TIME OUT
RIT enters the contest after an exhibition contest against Cornell, Saturday (Oct. 16) at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

NATIONAL TOP-10 RANKINGS
The Tigers are nationally ranked No. 2 in team saves with 255. In power-play goals, RIT is nationally ranked No. 8 with four.

SHOT BLOCKERS CLUB
The Tigers lead the CHA in blocks (101) and have five of the top-10 conference blockers, including defenders Taylor Sims (16), Bailey Kehl (12), Kyla Bear (10) and Mia Tsilemos (10) along with forward Megan McCormick (10).

POINT STREAKS
Senior forward Abby Davies (2g) and sophomore forward Emma Roland (1g, 1a) each have points in the past two games.

POINT LEADERS
Sophomore forwards Lindsay Maloney and Emma Roland lead the Tigers in points and are tied for seventh in CHA scoring with five points each.

ROOKIES RISE
Freshman goaltender Sarah Coe was named CHA Rookie of the Week last Monday (Oct. 18). She made a career-high 39 saves on Friday before making 40 on Saturday against Connecticut. Her 79 total saves were the second-highest two-game total in the country that weekend. Coe leads the CHA in saves (203) and saves-per-game (33.83). Prior to Coe, freshman defender Bailey Kehl received top CHA rookie accolades the previous week.

SCOUTING THE SAINTS
St. Lawrence dropped its last two games against undefeated Clarkson in a home-and-home series on Oct. 15 (2-1) and Oct. 16 (4-1) for their first losses of the season after starting 2-0-2. Rachel Bjorgan leads the 2021-22 Saints in points with four. The Saints return three of their top five goal scorers from last season in Shailynn Snow, Bjorgan and Jessica Poirier, and seven of the top 10, with the return of Kristina Bahl, Brittney Gout, Skylar Podvey and Chloé Puddifant. Returning in goal is Lucy Morgan, who earned MAC Goaltending ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year honors last season. Morgan also helped lead the Saints to the ECAC Hockey championship game last season, which the Saints reached by winning four-straight games against Clarkson.
