Women's Hockey falls to Union, 7-4

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT sophomore Lindsay Maloney and freshman Megan McCormick each scored a goal and an assist, but it was visiting Union riding a 6-1 third-period to a 7-4 victory, Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Union scored the lone goal of the first period on a breakaway goal by Celeste Beaudoin 5:39 into the contest.
  •  Sophomore forward Lindsay Maloney tied the game 1:22 into the second period with a power-play tally assisted by McCormick and freshman defenseman Bailey Kehl.
  • Senior forward Abby Davies tucked a goal inside the left post after a give-and-go with freshman forward Kylie Aquaro for the Tigers' first lead with 10:19 left in the second.
  • RIT took a 3-1 lead when sophomore forward Emma Roland drilled a shot over the Union goaltender's right shoulder from the high slot off a feed from junior forward Hana Solinger. Maloney also earned an assist on the play.
  • Union scored five unanswered goals, including a pair on the power-play tallies to take a 6-3 lead with just over four minutes left in regulation.
  • Maloney slid a puck inside the left post for a late breakaway goal with 2:12 remaining, but the Dutchwomen added an empty-net goal in the game's final seconds to close out the night.

GAME NOTES
  • McCormick registered her first collegiate multi-point game.
  • Freshman goaltender Sarah Coe recorded 36 saves for her third-consecutive game with  at least 35 stops.
  • Freshman forward Kylie Aquaro recorded her first collegiate point with an assist on the Tigers' second goal.
