ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team returns to action for the first time in 26 days with a mid-week series against College Hockey America foe Mercyhurst University (2-0-0, 2-0-0 CHA). The Tigers travel to Erie, Pa on Wednesday, Jan. 6 and will host the Lakers the following day.

The Tigers enter the week searching for their first win of the season. Last time out, RIT lost 5-1 at Mercyhurst (Dec. 11). First-year forward Lindsay Maloney (Lakeville, Minn.) tallied her first collegiate goal, while sophomore forwards Christa Stefanopoulos (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Dawson College) and Taylor Sims (Deep River, Ontario/Ottawa Lady Senators) each had an assist. Senior goalkeeper Jessi O'Leary (Woodstock, New Brunswick/Notre Dame Hounds) made 33 stops in net for the Tigers.
Mercyhurst enters the week averaging 3.50 goals per game, while allowing 1.00 goals per contest. The Lakers are 2-of-7 on the power play, and are 9-for-9 killing off penalties.
Mercyhurst is 31-5-0 all time versus RIT. The Tigers last win against Mercyhurst came on Jan. 18, 2019, a 4-2 win at the Gene Polisseni Center.
