ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore forward
Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, Alaska) totaled a goal and an assist while junior forward
Will Calverley (Scarborough, Ontario) scored a goal to lead the Tigers past visiting Canisius, Saturday, in Atlantic Hockey action at the Polisseni Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Parked in front of the right post, Calverley re-directed a shot by senior forward Nick Bruce (Fall River, Nova Scotia/Johnstown Tomahawks) from the point past Canisius junior goalie Matt Ladd to open the scoring 1:14 into the contest.
- Ladd sticked down a shot by Moretz from the right point, but junior forward Andrew Petrucci (Toronto, Ontario) buried the rebound inside a wide-open left post to put RIT up, 2-0, with 3:24 left in the first period.
- The Tigers notched a power-play goal with 1:24 on the clock to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. RIT cycled the puck around the Canisius zone and down the right flank where senior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, Calif.) threaded a pass through a crowd in front of Ladd to Moretz for a one-timer inside the left post.
- Canisius notched a pair of goals in the first six minute of the second period. Freshman Jami Virtanen scored a power play goal with 16:13 on the clock before freshman forward Max Kouznetsov finished an odd-man rush at 14:22.
GAME NOTES
- RIT senior goalie Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta) was credited with 20 saves, including nine in the second, to earn the victory
- The Tigers took a season-high 39 shots, out-shooting the Golden Griffins, 39-22.
- Calverley's goal was the 30th of his career and his fourth tally in three nights after also notching a hat-trick in Thursday's 6-4 victory over visiting Mercyhurst.

RIT heads to Buffalo on Sunday to take on Canisius at 7:05 p.m. in the second of three-consecutive games against the Golden Griffins. The Tigers are also scheduled to take on host Canisius on Tuesday (Feb. 2) at 7:05 p.m.
