ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Former RIT standout Shawn Cameron (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Cumberland Grads) '20 recently signed a contract with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL. Located in Greenville, South Carolina, the Swamp Rabbits are a minor league affiliate of the NHL Florida Panthers.
Cameron notched two assists during his debut last Friday to help Greenville to a 5-4 OT victory over the South Carolina Stingrays.
Cameron led the 2019-20 Tigers with 29 points and 18 goals, while tying for seventh with 11 assists. He tied a career-high with three points on two goals and an assist in RIT's 4-1 victory at Robert Morris (Feb. 7) and also notched a pair of power-play tallies in the season-opening 3-1 win at Colgate (Oct. 5) during his final season in a Tiger sweater.
Cameron finished second among his teammates with 140 appearances over the last four years, totaling 71 points on 35 goals and 36 assists.
A three time Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team honoree, he is also a two-time American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar on track to graduate with a degree in finance
