ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's indoor track and field team finished in fourth place at the 2020 Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Championship from the Gordon Field House Friday afternoon. The Tigers placed fourth out of six teams with a score of 60.5 points. Ithaca won the Liberty League title with 299.5 points.
Friday, senior
Madeline Pizzo (Irondequoit, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) brought home the Liberty League title in the shot put with a winning throw of 12.76 meters. RIT had three of the top-eight finishers in the pole vault led by
Samantha Kaplan (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) who placed fifth (3.45 meters),
Liz Daugherty (/) finished sixth (3.30 meters) and
Catherine Fox () was eighth (3.30 meters).
Colleen Eckl (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.27 meters.
Also on Friday, Junior
Harley Wilson (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) finished third in the 400-meters, coming home in a time of 58.33 seconds. In relay action, the team of
Taylor Domico (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills), Wilson, Jamie Polanco and
Olivia Spencer (Shortsville, NY/Red Jacket) finished second in the distance medley relay, finishing in a time of 13:00.08.
Saturday, Polanco placed fifth in the 800-meters, finishing in a time of 2:20.30. Marissa Disepenza placed fifth in the 60m hurdles (9.37 seconds), while Domico finished seventh in the 3,000-meters (10:49.12). In relay action, the team of Dispenza, Polanco, Eckl and Wilson finished second in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:04.10.
In field events,
Samantha Kaplan (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) (3.45 meters),
Liz Daugherty (/) (3.30 meters) and
Catherine Fox () (3.30 merers) finished fifth, sixth and eighth, respectively in the pole vault. Eckl finished fifth in the triple jump (10.85 meters), while
Emily Zebrowski (Springville, NY/Springville) placed seventh in the 20lb. weight throw (14.90 meters).
RIT returns to action at the Atlantic Region Championships on March 6-7, hosted by Nazareth College.
