ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT lost to visiting Air Force, 3-0, Friday night in Atlantic Hockey action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Air Force got on the board 13 seconds into the game after freshman forward Luke Manning stole a puck behind the Tiger net and stuffed a shot inside the right post.
- Tiger senior defenseman Adam Brubacher (Elmira, Ontario/Powell River Kings) scored off a drop pass from junior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, CA/Dubuque Fighting Saints) with 7:55 left in the second period. However, the goal was waved off after an RIT substitute behind the play was deemed to have jumped on the ice too quickly.
- RIT was awarded a penalty shot with 7:56 left in the third period after Hamacher was taken down from behind on a rush. However, his ensuing attempt trickled just outside the right post.
- Air Force tacked on a pair of empty-net goals in the final 1:13 to put the game out of reach.
GAME NOTES
- RIT had already clinched no lower than the fourth seed for the Atlantic Hockey Tournament and still has a chance to move up to third. If third-place Army loses at AIC on Saturday, the Tigers would move ahead of the Black Knights with a win or a tie opposite Air Force.
- Tiger junior goalie Ian Andriano (Barrie, Ontario/Ottawa Jr. Senators) was credited with 21 saves in his first start of the season.
- RIT was shutout for the first time since a 3-0 loss at Robert Morris on Oct. 26, 2018.
WHAT'S NEXT
RIT hosts Air Force in its regular-season finale on Saturday (Feb. 29) at 7:05 p.m. The seven members of the Tigers' Class of 2020 will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony prior to the game.
