ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (9-16, 6-12 Liberty League) men's basketball team was defeated 74-65 by Vassar College (11-14, 7-11 Liberty League) in the regular season finale from Clark Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, the Tigers honored senior
Cobey Adekanbi (Bloomfield, CT/Loomis Chafee),
Will Atkinson (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius),
Drew DeBacco (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and
Chuck Okehie (Owings Mills, MD/The McDonough School) as they made their final appearance on the floor of Clark Gym.
RIT shot 41.4 percent from the floor on 24-of-58 shooting. The Tigers went 10-of-27 from beyond the arc, and made 7-of-12 from the foul line.
Curtis Nesbit (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge) led the Tigers with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Atkinson finished with 13 points, while
Keegan Ocorr (Fairport, NY/Charles Finney) chipped in 10 points.
Zach Johnson led Vassar with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Zach Bromfeld tallied 16 points for the Brewers who shot 46.4 percent from the floor.
RIT trailed 42-20 at halftime, but began the second half on a 16-7 run, cutting the Vassar lead to 49-36 on an Atkinson three-pointer. Vassar built its lead back to 22 points on an old-fashioned three-point play from Johnson with 7:06 to play.
The Tigers answered with a 19-7 run, cutting the Vassar lead to 70-60 on another Atkinson three-pointer. Nesbit drained a late three-pointer to make to cut the Vassar lead to eight points.
