ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior defender Logan Land (Turkey Point, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) notched a goal and an assist while junior forward Stella Haberman (Golden Valley, MN/Minnesota Whitecaps) and sophomore forward Hunter Barnett (Caledon, Ontario/Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) each added two assists to lead the Tigers past visiting Penn State, 4-3, in College Hockey America (CHA) action, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Penn State opened the scoring after sophomore forward Amy Dobson re-directed a power-play shot from the point by senior defender Kate Rydland with 16:52 left in the first period.
- RIT responded less than a minute later with a power-play goal of its own after junior defender Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) scored a loose puck during a flurry in front of the Nittany Lion net with 16:00 on the clock.
- Penn State re-took the lead after junior forward Katie Rankin scored on a shot from the top of the zone off a short feed from junior forward Natalie Heising with 6:29 left in the first.
- Land re-tied the game on a blast from the point off a Nittany Lion turnover with 4:06 on the clock.
- With 11:17 left in the second period, senior forward Jade Mancini (Hamilton, Ontario/Bishop Tonnos) cleaned up a short rebound in front of the Penn State crease off a shot from the left face-off circle by senior defender Taylor Baker (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate Institute) for a 3-2 RIT lead.
- Penn State took advantage of an RIT penalty that carried over into the third period after sophomore defender Rene Gangarosa managed to slip a puck past RIT senior goalie Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) with 19:22 on the clock.
- Freshman forward Rachel Goff (Naperville, IL/Chicago Mission) finished a rush off a nice feed in front of the Nittany Lion crease from Haberman to push the Tigers back on top, 4-3, with 13:35 left in the third period.
GAME NOTES
- RIT (11-16-3, 4-11-1 CHA) earned back-to-back wins over the Nittany Lions (10-13-8, 5-6-4 CHA) for their first conference doubleheader sweep of the season.
- RIT avenged its two losses at Penn State earlier this season, 3-0, 6-2 (Dec. 6-7).
- Lanteigne totaled 33 stops for her 13th 30-plus save of the season.
- Land notched her team-leading third power-play goal of the season.

RIT travels to Robert Morris next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 21-22) for its final CHA road trip of the regular season. Face-offs are set for 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
