ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, CA/Dubuque Fighting Saints) scored two goals for the second-consecutive game to lead the Tigers to a 4-1 victory over visiting Bentley in Atlantic Hockey action, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT got on the board with 6:26 left in the first period. Hamacher came up with a loose puck at the top of the Tiger zone and sent a puck forward to freshman forward Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, AK/Flin Flon Bombers) in the neutral zone. Moretz battled his way down the left boards and centered a puck that deflected off a Bentley player in the slot directly to Hamacher, who scored on a wrist shot.
- Senior forward Shawn Cameron (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Cumberland Grads) put the Tigers on top, 2-0, with 16:19 on the second-period clock. Freshman defenseman Ryan Nicholson (Mississauga, Ontario/Oakville Blades) sent a puck down low to junior forward Alden Dupuis (Edmonton, Alberta/Bonnyville Pontiacs), who fed Hamacher in the left face-off circle for a wrist-shot that Cameron tipped under the Falcon goalie's pads.
- RIT took a 3-0 lead with another power-play tally following a Bentley high-sticking penalty. Sophomore forward Will Calverley (Scarborough, Ontario/Chilliwack Chiefs) won a face-off to the right of the Falcon net and scored on a short wrist shot six seconds later off a feed from freshman forward Elijah Gonsalves (Scarborough, Ontario/Wellington Dukes).
- Bentley got on the board with 8:40 left in the third after senior defenseman Brett Orr finished a rush off an assist from junior forward Luke Santerno.
- Hamacher tacked on an empty-net tally with 1:16 left in regulation after Gonsalves created a turnover at the top of the Falcon zone.
