Women's basketball wins 67-53 at Clarkson Saturday

POTSDAM, NY – The RIT (7-9, 5-4 Liberty League) women's basketball team defeated Clarkson University 67-53 in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.

RIT shot 42.4 percent from the floor on 28-of-66 shooting. The Tigers made 6-of-18 from beyond the arc, and 5-of-7 from the foul line.

Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) led RIT with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Kaleesha Joseph (Somerville, MA/Prospect Hill Academy Charter) tallied 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) added seven rebounds to go along with six points.

Hannah Earl led Clarkson with 17 points. Rachel Marion tallied 15 points for the Golden Knights who shot 35.7 percent from the floor.

RIT led 40-27 at halftime, shooting 48.6 percent from the floor. Wolfe led the Tigers with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Alyssa Juergens (Rochester, NY/Hilton) finished the half with six points, while Stanley grabbed five rebounds.

Leading 27-18, RIT went on a 15-3 run in the second quarter, shooting 6-of-14 from the floor in the quarter to take a 13-point lead. Wolfe tallied 9 of her 15 points in the second quarter.

RIT extended its lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Golden Knights 17-9 in the quarter to lead 57-36. The Tigers shot 7-of-16 in the quarter, and held Clarkson scoreless over the final three minute of the quarter.

RIT took its largest lead (23 pts.) on a three-pointer from Wolfe early in the fourth quarter and held on for the 14-point win.

RIT returns to action on Friday, Jan. 31, at Union College at 5:30 p.m.
