ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (7-8, 1-1 Liberty League) women's volleyball team defeated Union College (7-7, 0-2 Liberty League) in three sets in Liberty League action from Clark Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Scores were 25-20, 30-28 and 25-15.

Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) and Taylor Higgins (Peru, NY/Peru) each had a double-double for RIT. Hobler led the Tigers with 18 kills, 10 digs and two service aces. Higgins finished with 10 kills and 11 digs, and Kelly Waters (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) chipped in 11 kills and three blocks, including a solo block. Brianna Ellis (Wayne, PA/Radnor) handed out 41 assists. Kiana Walker (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) added 10 digs, and Maria Simonetti (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) had 13 digs.

Gillian Gore led Union with 14 kills and 16 digs. Lara Atalay added 12 kills, while Sage Shimamoto handed out 26 assists.

RIT returns to action on Friday, Oct. 4 when the Tigers take on Lycoming College at the Lycoming Tip-Off Classic at 7 p.m.
