Box Score 2 SELINSGROVE, PA -- The RIT (6-7) women's volleyball team went 1-1 on Saturday at the Susquehanna River Hawks Classic. The Tigers were defeated 3-0 by Johns Hopkins University (21-25, 18-25, 11-25), but rebounded to beat DeSales University, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20).
Against DeSales,
Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) led the Tigers with 16 kills, while
Taylor Higgins (Peru, NY/Peru) finished with 10 kills.
Brianna Ellis (Wayne, PA/Radnor) handed out 36 assists, and
Kiana Walker (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) finished with 18 digs.
Maria Simonetti (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) had 13 digs.
Versus Johns Hopkins, Hobler led RIT with 12 kills.
Kelly Waters (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) tallied eight kills, while Ellis handed out 21 assists. Simonetti had 11 digs for the Tigers.
"This was another good weekend in preparation for our upcoming Liberty League matches," said RIT head coach
Jim Lodes. "We continue to grow as a team. Playing the quality of teams that we have played so far has given us an idea of what it will take to compete in the conference this year. I believe we will be ready."
RIT returns to action on Friday, Sept. 27, when the Tigers begin Liberty League play versus Skidmore College at 7 p.m. on the floor at Clark Gymnasium.
