ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (3-2-0) women's soccer team defeated SUNY Oneonta, 5-0 (2-2-1) on the grass at Tiger Stadium Tuesday afternoon. Senior
Mia White (Littleton, CO/Rocky Mountain Deaf School) tallied the hat trick for the Tigers.
Shots were 17-11 in favor of RIT, while the Red Dragons took eight corner kicks to three for RIT.
Alyssa Salls (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) got the win in net for RIT, making five saves. Claire Lepper took the loss for SUNY Oneonta, making five stops.
White led the Tigers with three goals and an assist, while
Abbey Saia (Monroe, CT/Masuk) tallied a goal and an assist.
Maddy Bullis (Hillsboro, OR/Glencoe) also scored for RIT.
The Tigers struck quickly, scoring just 56 seconds into the contest on Saia's goal off an assist from White. Bullis gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead on her second goal of the season off a feed from
Piper Zimmerman (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge).
After halftime, the Tigers took a 3-0 lead on White's second goal of the game in the 54th minute on an assist from Saia. She struck again in the 57th minute off an assist from
Lauren Zeglen (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) and completed the hat trick with a goal in the 61st minute on an assist from
Christine Cataldo-Smith (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury).
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when the Tigers host SUNY Fredonia at 12 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
