CANTON, NY -- The team of
Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and
Kirsten Auble (Portland, OR/Sunset) won the "A" Flight at the 2019 St. Lawrence Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Sammis Tennis Courts on the campus of St. Lawrence.
In doubles, the duo defeated the team of Katherine Apt and Christina Ryan from St. Lawrence, 8-4 in the opening round. They went on to beat the team of Tal Pezzuco and Marilena Karadimou from Union, 8-4 in the second round. They were beaten by Caitlyn Avery and Lillian Sullivan in the third round, 8-6.
In singles, Zablonski defeated Apt, 8-5 in the "A" flight. She lost, 8-4 to Pezzuco in the second round, but defeated Sullivan, 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 in the third round. After a first round loss, Auble came back to beat Karadimou from Union, 8-5 in the second round. She went to beat Avery in the third round, 6-0, 6-2.
Annie Steinbrink (Upper Dublin, PA/Upper Dublin) took the third in the "B" flight with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win over Allison Remmell from Union.Steinbrink and
Julianne Ho (Scarsdale, NY/Edgemont) took third in "B" flight doubles with an 8-7 (9-7).
RIT will close out the fall portion of its schedule at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by William Smith College, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 21, and running through Sept. 22.
