OSWEGO, NY -- The RIT(1-3-1) men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 in overtime at SUNY Oswego (4-2-0) Saturday afternoon. The Lakers tallied the game-winning goal in the 95th minute.
Shots were 15-9 in favor of SUNY Oswego. The Tigers took three corner kicks to four for the Lakers.
Will Sokol (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) took the loss in net for RIT, making seven saves. Brian Terra got the win for Oswego, making four saves.
Oswego struck inside the first minute of play, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal from Kieran Gilroy just 15 seconds into the game. He found the upper-left corner on a shot from outside the RIT penalty box.
The Tigers equalized in the 53rd minute.
Nick Simone (Hilton, NY/Hilton) fired a shot from the top of the SUNY Oswego penalty box that found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.
SUNY Oswego won the game on a Caleb Asamoah goal off an assist from Omar Espinoza.
RIT returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17, when the Tigers host Houghton College at 7 p.m. under the lights at RIT's Turf Field.
