ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (1-0) women's tennis team began its 2019-20 season with a convincing 9-0 win over St. John Fisher College (0-1) on sun-drenched RIT Tennis Courts Saturday morning.
In doubles action, the team of
Shayna Ginster (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and
Claire Casalnova (Mars, PA/Pine Richland) were 8-0 winners over Cassidy Bell and Kaili Saffran at first doubles.
Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and
Annie Steinbrink (Upper Dublin, PA/Upper Dublin) defeated Mikayla Santulli and Zuzanna Pociecha 8-0 at second doubles. Julianna Ho and Mia Hoffbauer defeated Jacqueline Chouinard and Veronika Jurczuk 8-1 at third doubles.
In singles action, Ginster defeated Cassidy Bell 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 at first singles. Zablonski defeated Santulli 6-1, 6-0 at second singles, and Casalnova defeated Pociecha 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. Steinbrink was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Amanda Thongsirimonghoun at fourth singles, while downed Valerie Morgans 602, 6-0 at fifth singles. Hoffbauer was a 7-5, 6-0 winner over Cydney Bell at sixth singles.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Mary Hosking Invitational hosted by William Smith College.
