Women's Soccer loses at No. 9 Wheaton College (Ill.)

WHEATON, IL -- The RIT (1-1-0) women's soccer team was defeated 3-1 at No. 9 Wheaton College (Ill.) (2-0-0) on day two of the 2019 Bob Baptista Invitational Soccer Tournaments.

Shots were 29-6 in favor of the Thunder. Wheaton (Ill.) took five corner kicks to one for the Tigers. Darcie Jones (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn) took the loss in net for RIT, making 12 saves. Lauren Ketcham got the win for Wheaton (Ill.), making three saves.

First-year Maddy Bullis (Hillsboro, OR/Glencoe) gave RIT a 1-0 lead on her first collegiate goal off an assist from Madison Corso (Honolulu, HI/Kaiser) in the 20th minute. Bullis took the pass from Corso and scored on a long shot from 20 yards out that gave the Tigers the early lead.

Sara Bakke tied the score at 1-1 when she deflected a ball in front of the RIT net into the goal in the 38th minute. After halftime, Wheaton (Ill.) took a 2-1 lead on a Tori Seeland goal off an assist from Bakke in the 50th minute. The Thunder added a third goal from Aeva Graber in the 67th minute.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Wilkes University. Kick-off is 1 p.m. from Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
