Women's lacrosse wins second straight game, 16-5 over Bard

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (5-7, 3-4 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team won its second straight Liberty League contest with a 16-5 victory over Bard College (4-6, 0-5 Liberty League) on Saturday afternoon on RIT's Turf Field. With the win, the Tigers vault up into fifth place in the league standings.

Shots were 41-23 in favor of RIT. Ground balls were even at 16-16, and RIT won 12-of-23 draw controls. RIT went 18-of-21 on clearing attempts and were 4-of-11 on free position tries.

Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's) led RIT with five points on three goals and two assists. Meghan Donahue (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) tallied four goals, while Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) finished with three goals and four points and Olivia Africa (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied two goals and two assists. Paulina Goodermote (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) picked up the win in net for the Tigers, making seven saves. Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) and Ariana Waldorf (Boston, MA/Oliver Ames) each made a save in relief.

Caleigh McDonald led Bard with two goals. Casey Witte, Melissa Rosenthal and Gillian Adkins each scored for the Raptors and Azabek Kickner took the loss in net, making 10 saves.

Bard took an early lead when Rosenthal scored off an assist from Jade Waring at the 26:22 mark. The Tigers ran off seven straight goals, taking a 7-1 lead on a Colette Rigas (Marietta, NY/Marcellus) goal with a little over eight minute to play in the first half. Adkins broke the Tigers run with her goal with 4:26 remaining that cut the RIT lead to 7-2. The Tigers scored three straight goals to end the half leading 10-2. Darrell scored two of RIT's three goals, while Africa had two assists.

RIT scored the first five goals of the second half, extending its lead to 15-2 on a Rigas free position goal. Bard got goals from Witte and two from DeCarpio that made it a 16-5 final score.

The Tigers are off until Saturday, April 13 when the Tigers play at Clarkson University at 3 p.m. in Potsdam, N.Y.
