ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (6-8) dropped an 8-1 decision to host University of Rochester (12-5) from the Lyman Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.
 
RIT scored its lone point of the match at second doubles, as Patrick Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) won in a tiebreaker over Sahaj Somani and Uriah Miller. With the match tied at 7-7, Mathews and Lim took the decisive point, 7-3.
 
The first doubles match also went right down to the wire, as Rochester's Masaru Fujimaki and Yifan Shen nipped RIT's Brennan Bull (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) and Jacob Meyerson (Cranston, RI/Cranston West), 8-6.
 
The Yellowjackets, who are ranked No. 34 in all of Division III, took all six singles matches to secure the team win.
 
RIT is back in action at noon on Saturday with a road match at St. Lawrence University.
