Slow start sinks women's lacrosse in non-league loss at The College at Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY -- The RIT (3-7) women's lacrosse team was defeated 19-8 at The College at Brockport (7-1) in non-conference action Monday afternoon. Brockport opened the game by scoring the first nine goals en route to the win.

Shots were 29-24 in favor of the Golden Eagles. The Tigers won the ground ball battle, 19-14 and won 13 draw controls. RIT was 9-of-14 on clearing attempts and went 1-of-9 on free position attempts.

Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) led RIT with five goals, six points and had a team-high seven draw controls. Colette Rigas (Marietta, NY/Marcellus) tallied two goals, while Olivia Africa (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) tallied a goal and grabbed three ground balls. Ariana Waldorf (Boston, MA/Oliver Ames) made nine saves in relief for RIT.

Heather Conklin led Brockport with six goals, while Julie Carballo tallied four goals. Allison Jennings chipped in two goals, three assists and five points, while Morgan Elmer got the win in net for the Golden Eagles, making 11 saves.

Fallone tallied two of RIT's three goals in the first half, while Rigas scored the other, as RIT trailed 13-3 at halftime. Brockport scored nine times in the first 15 minutes of the game to build the big early cushion. Fallone scored four of the Tigers five second half goals.

RIT returns to action on Friday, April 5 when the Tigers host Vassar College at 4 p.m. in RIT's Turf Field.
