ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (4-4) moved back to .500 on the season with a 9-0 shutout win over Alfred University (2-2) at the Gordon Field House Tuesday afternoon.
RIT's three doubles teams of
Brennan Bull (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) and
Jacob Meyerson (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) (first),
Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) and
Patrick Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and
Carter Casimir (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg Area) and
Jake Wolicki (Canton, MA/Canton) (third) all won by identical 8-1 scores.
RIT lost just seven games in singles play en route to the sweep. Wolicki (fourth) and
Michael Peters (New Hope, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) (sixth) both won by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, while Bull (first), Mathews (third) and
David Trimmer (York, PA/Dallastown) (fifth) dropped just one game apiece.
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) earned a win at second singles over Logan Cross.
RIT is back in action on Sunday, March 10 on the road at Hobart College. The match is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
