ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (7-3) won five of six singles matches to rally and defeat Division II Roberts Wesleyan University (11-10) by a score of 6-3 from the Gordon Field House on Tuesday.
Down 2-1 entering singles play, RIT responded by winning the next three points to go up 4-2.
Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bijisha Shrestha at fourth singles to tie the match before
Anne Taylor (Beaver, PA/Beaver) defeated Andrea Gallardo at second singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) gave RIT a 4-2 lead in the match with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Nthabi Mogopodi at the first position.
Robert Wesleyan would pull to within 4-3, but
Kirsten Auble (Portland, OR/Sunset) would secure the win for the Tigers at sixth singles, defeating Salome Darsalia, 6-2, 6-2.
Claire Casalnova (Mars, PA/Pine Richland) would rally to defeat Laura Freeman at fifth singles. Freeman won the first set, 6-1, before Casalnova took the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 and won the third set, 10-7.
