ENGLEWOOD, FL -- The RIT (1-1) women's lacrosse team won its first game of 2019, with a convincing 19-6 victory over Gordon College (0-4) Sunday evening to open up play over Spring Break. Junior
Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) recorded her 100th career point in the win.
Shots were 29-15 in favor of RIT. The Tigers won 14-of-26 draw controls, and went 8-of-10 on clearing attempts.
Olivia Africa (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led RIT with five points on three goals and two assists. Meghan Donohue tallied four goals, while
Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's) chipped in three goals and four points.
Colette Rigas (Marietta, NY/Marcellus) scored two goals and won five draw controls, while
Skylar Burlee (Churchville, NY/Churhcville-Chili) added three points on two goals and an assist. Junior
Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) tallied a goal for her 100th career point.
Paulina Goodermote (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) got the win in net, making three saves.
Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) made three saves in the second half.
Brenna Otte led Gordon with three goals. Greta Moore, Olivia McCarrick and Molly Guthrie each scored a goal. Annabel Christenson took the loss in net, making four saves.
McCarrick gave Gordon a 1-0 lead early in the first half on her goal at the 27:05 mark. The Tigers ran off five straight goals, taking a 5-1 lead on Donohue's goal off an assist from Darrell with 21:20 to play in the first half.
After a Moore goal cut the RIT lead to 5-2, RIT ran off eight straight goals to end the first half leading 13-2. Fallone recorded her 100th career point with 20:08 to play in the first half. With the goal, Fallone moves into 15th all-time in scoring at the university. Donohue scored three first-half goals, while Africa, Rigas and Darrell each scored twice.
The Tigers scored six times in the second half, while holding Gordon College to four goals. Darrell, Burlee,
Krystyna Sterio (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Donohue,
Myranda D'Antico (Townsend, MA/North Middlesex Regional) and Africa all scored in the second half.
RIT returns to action on Tuesday, March 12 when the Tigers take on Haverford College at 1 p.m. in Englewood, Fla.
